Mileage and Workouts

A few people have expressed interest in seeing a graph of our recent mileage with our heads placed in the graph's key so that you can tell which color corresponds to which one of us. Well, for those of you with this specific request, I have obliged. I am missing a few data points for Steve, but rest assured he did not zero out for those weeks. He probably ran eleventy.

Also, we're down to only 20 or so options for workouts. That is insufficient. Please keep them coming or else.

  1. Very cool. Keep it up. I am going for a similar, and less lofty goal, of sub 18 in the 5k. Any tips you can pass along having already crossed that bridge?

  2. Mark,

Thanks for the support. We picked 15 minutes because, while it's a new frontier for us, it's also attainable (hopefully).

I think a lot of these workouts can be dialed back to reflect your current and goal pace. One of the things I like about this project is that it's sort of proof-of-concept that workouts themselves are somewhat immaterial, as long as you're working in the right blend of mileage, strength, and speed.

Where are you at now in terms of 5k? What do you think you could run a mile in right now if you were to go all-out on a track? How much time do you have to train during the week? Any injuries holding you back?
